1. Do you like to read books?
Yeah, sure. Most of my friends aren’t big readers but I’m a bit of a bookworm, actually… I guess I like getting lost in the story… That way, I can forget about the stresses of daily life.
2. What kinds of things do you usually read?
Erm… I’m into all sorts… I’m fond of sci-fi novels because they stimulate my imagination, I mean they’re so different from real life… I’m not so keen on romance novels, though… I don’t find them enthralling or engrossing at all.
3. Do you prefer to read books or watch films?
I’m definitely more of a bookworm than a film buff… I’m really into watching movies, but I feel like books have had a more pronounced influence on my life… I think you can say deeper and more touching things in a three-hundred page novel than you can in a two-hour film…
4. When you were young, what books made the greatest impression on you?
Erm… I can’t quite remember, but… I think I was always a big reader of detective novels… I always liked trying to work out who the murderer was… And I always enjoyed the plot twists at the end. I found those sorts of book really gripping.
5. Do you think children today
should spend more time reading?
Well… I think the youth of today should be encouraged to read more for pleasure but I don’t think they should be forced to do so… I mean, that saps the fun out of it, and limits the benefits, too… But you can get so much out of reading, like inspiration and vocabulary and relaxation time… So I’d say reading is really important for kids.
