Well, there are many athletes that I admire, but the one I look up to the most is Mo Farah, so I’m going to talk about him.

He’s a long-distance runner. In terms of appearance, he’s lean and bony, and not very tall. He’s also bald. I guess lots of sportspeople are hairless because it makes them more streamlined… His family’s originally from Somalia, although he’s a British citizen.

As I said before, he’s a long-distance athlete, so he competes in the 10,000m races. That said, he occasionally participates in shorter-distance events, like the 5,000 or 3,000m races. He’s taken part in competitions all over the world. The first time I saw him was on TV… He was competing in the 2012 Olympics in London. I was watching him on TV in a pub near Trafalgar Square, in central London, and everyone was cheering for him. The atmosphere was electric.

I admire him because when he came to England he was very young, maybe 7 or 8, and struggled academically because of the language barrier. But he overcame those hardships and worked very hard at sport, which showed that you don’t have to be academically gifted to succeed. Also… he seems very diligent and dedicated. I mean, he must spend tons of time training. He’s won loads of gold medals and holds plenty of records. He’s made his country very proud.

Er, there’s not really anything I think he could improve in… The only advice I would give him is to keep working hard and inspiring young people in England and across the globe.

I think that’s everything.
