Travelling

1. Do you like travelling? Why?
Sure… travelling provides me with a great chance to get away from it all… By visiting new places and meeting new people, I can unwind from the stresses of work and study… But it costs a lot of money to travel abroad, so I can’t do it as often as I want.

2. What are the advantages of travelling abroad?
I guess there are several benefits… Firstly, you can get away from it all and also recharge your batteries by doing something different… Also, you can get the chance to experience new cultures and meet new people, which can broaden your mind… Through travelling, you can have a more open mind, more tolerance, and a greater sense of independence.

3. Are there many public or national holidays in your country?
Compared to other countries, yes, there are lots of public holidays, like Chuseok (or Thanksgiving) and Lunar New Year… I think the reason we have lots of national holidays is because we rarely get any paid leave from work, so we need some time to recharge.

4. Do you think people need more holidays?
In Korea, we definitely need more holidays. We work the longest hours but we’re one of the least productive countries in terms of the hours we work. I reckon that if we had more time to relax, we’d be less tired at work and we’d get more done.

5. Do you like going away on holidays?
I do, yeah, but only when I’m financially stable. The more money you have, the less you get stressed about going on holiday, and the more activities you can enjoy…

6. What kinds of place would you like to visit on holiday?
Well… I’d like to go somewhere exotic… I like to try exotic food and experience different cultures… I’d particularly like to go to somewhere in Africa because I’m really into wild animals and nature.
