1. Do you like taking photos? How often do you take them?

I’ve been into taking photos a lot these days a lot, actually. I’ve got a digital camera and a film camera, too… I normally take my cameras with me wherever I go on weekends, and during the week I use my phone to take photos… So I do it every day.

2. Is photography a common hobby in your country?

Sure… these days, digital cameras are more common than film cameras because it’s quite expensive to develop film.... And with the spread of technology, lots of people have smart phones with sophisticated built-in cameras, so everyone these days is a budding photographer… I guess people like taking photos because they can remember the places they’ve been and the people they’ve met… It’s fun to look at photos, recall past moments, and talk about them with other people

3. What kind of photographs do you like?

I like taking digital photos… You can just save digital photos into your computer and print them out, and it doesn’t cost much money… But I like looking at film photos – they have a certain charm and nostalgia about them

4. Do you ever go to photo exhibitions?

To be honest, I don’t usually go to photo exhibitions, no… I just don’t really have time these days… Plus I’m not really into looking at photos in a gallery… I prefer taking them. I do enjoy looking at sculptures and paintings, though.

5. Why do most young Koreans take pictures a lot more these days?

Erm… I guess partly due to the development of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter... It’s very common to see young people post pictures and blogs on their personalised homepage and keep friends and families up to date with their latest news.

6. What are the advantages of taking photos?

OK… I reckon there are several advantages… I mean, by taking photos, you can capture a precise moment and cherish it as a memory. On top of that… photos can also be useful for police to use as visual evidence when prosecuting a suspect
