< Sample answer >
I’m a bit of a bookworm so there are lots of books I could talk about, but I’ve chosen to talk about The Unbearable Lightness of Being, which is probably one of my favourites.
It’s a novel, and it tells the story of five or six characters and their relationships with each other… The narrative switches between a man, his lovers, and even a dog… It’s set in Czechoslovakia in the mid-twentieth century, which is when the author lived there… And there’s even a film based on the novel now…
I liked it because it was a really engrossing read… It’s quite philosophical but it’s very easy to read… The style is also quite unique, I mean the plot jumps back and forth in time and the narrative switches between characters…
It was quite an influential book for me… It helped me to understand human relationships a little more… And it also gave me an insight into twentieth century history and politics, especially in Czechoslovakia…
